The Murphys Hotel’s Venues to Cater
The Murphys Historic Hotel offers three venues for event services year-round. The hotel’s central location and onsite lodging creates the perfect unique environment for guests to host their events. The hotel has hosted wine tastings, paired dinners, author readings, business retreats, nonprofit fundraisers, weddings, reunions, parties and much more. Our event staff will assist you in the preparation and execution of your successful event.
Mark Twain Ballroom For parties of
20-70 people
An elegant dining experience, the Mark Twain Ballroom seats up to 70 guests and is perfect for parties of 20 or more. Capacity depends on event seating arrangements.
The Ballroom is decorated with intricate old-time chandeliers, paintings of famous guests such as Mark Twain and an example of the original wallpaper. The Ballroom was part of the original floor plan and has been used for special events since 1856.

Author Mark Twain held readings and the ballroom has been host to Presidential Receptions for Ulysses Grant, Calvin Coolidge, and William Taft (who as also Chief Justice of the Supreme Court).
Now you can host your event in this historic room, adding your name into the annals of history.
From Buffets To Banquets
The Ballroom has its own wooden bar and a staging kitchen from which buffets and plated dinners are served for banquets.
Originally used in 1856 by the “drovers” who drove herds of cattle up Highway 4 and bunked down on their bedrolls, today’s guests enjoy the history and tradition of this grand room.

Located at the rear of the hotel proerty, this venue offers a private yet open location for both ceremony and reception.
Murphys Creek runs alongside, with a small waterfall adding a touch of nature to your experience.
50-160 people Upper & Lower Patio
This venue is situated directly adjacent to the historic building beautiful rose bushes, historic ambiance, and the Murphys Hotel Stagecoach make for interesting photo opportunities for newlyweds. Optional tent covering is available
